It's not every day that a superyacht becomes the subject of conversations outside the yachting world. Yet that's exactly what happened when Sanlorenzo unveiled Virtuosity, its latest 74Steel masterpiece. The yacht quickly found its way into the pages of Robb Report, SuperYacht Times, Forbes, and countless luxury publications—not because she's the biggest or most expensive yacht launched this year, but because she dares to do something completely unexpected. She has a living tree growing inside. Yes, a real one.
At first, it sounds like the kind of detail designed to grab headlines. But the more you learn about Virtuosity, the more you realise the tree isn’t a gimmick at all. It’s the very heart of the yacht. Instead of squeezing a decorative plant into an already finished interior, Sanlorenzo designed the yacht around it. A two-deck atrium was created to allow the tree to grow naturally beneath a large skylight, filling the space with daylight and transforming what could have been just another luxurious interior into something genuinely calming.
It’s the kind of idea that makes you stop and think. After all, yachts have always been about bringing people closer to the sea. Why shouldn’t they also bring us a little closer to nature? That question seems to define Virtuosity.
For years, the superyacht industry competed on numbers: longer hulls, more cabins, larger beach clubs and bigger engines. And while all of those things still matter, they are no longer what truly excites experienced yacht owners. Today, luxury is becoming far more personal. Owners are looking for spaces that make them feel something—homes on the water that reflect who they are rather than simply what they own.
That is exactly what Sanlorenzo has achieved.
The owner worked closely with the shipyard over several years, shaping a yacht that feels less like a product and more like a private residence floating effortlessly across the Mediterranean. Every detail appears intentional, every space designed to create a sense of balance rather than excess.
Of course, the tree isn’t the only remarkable feature on board. Virtuosity also boasts beautifully designed outdoor living spaces, expansive glazing that floods the interiors with natural light, elegant architectural water features, and one of the most sophisticated beach clubs Sanlorenzo has created to date. But somehow, despite all that craftsmanship and engineering, it’s still the tree that everyone remembers.
Perhaps that’s because it represents something much bigger than itself. Luxury has changed. The world’s most discerning clients no longer ask for „more.” They ask for „different”—more authentic, more meaningful and more personal.
In an industry where innovation is often measured in technology, this yacht reminds us that sometimes the boldest ideas are surprisingly simple: bring nature on board, create spaces that slow people down and design for emotion, not just admiration.
At Patrick Marine Yachts Monaco, we spend our days surrounded by extraordinary yachts. It takes something truly special to make us pause, and Virtuosity did exactly that.
Because long after you’ve forgotten the horsepower, the technical specifications or even the length of the yacht, you’ll remember walking on board and seeing sunlight filtering through the leaves of a living tree in the middle of the sea. And somehow, that feels like the future of luxury.
